Current Plans and Details
Hi Everyone!
This past week has taught me that I DEFINITELY need to start getting more organized. On top of goals and to do’s given to me by my mentor, I also have my own list of things to do! Hopefully writing this blog post will help me get my thoughts together!
My mentor mentioned 2 things I need to work on before our next meeting; a business plan and a 3d render of the space. One takes time and the other takes money. Thankfully there are a lot of resources on creating a business plan. Currently I am using a site called Venngage. It has free and paid options offering templates for different subjects. I’m using it as a basis and referencing other resources on what should be included. So far it’s going great but I suspect that the finance section will trip me up a little bit! The template I’m using only has premade pages for the overview, mission statement, and target market so I’ll have to do a lot on my own for everything else. I’m liking the features so far though since it provides a ton of user friendly capabilities as well as stock images you can add.
As for the 3d render, it was something I didn’t think about until my mentor mentioned it! I think it would be great to add into the business plan, but my mentor also mentioned that it would be necessary for the crowdfunfing campaign. Having the visual aspect is necessary to spark interest and get people excited for what’s to come! For things like this I would 100% recommend Fiverr. If you haven’t heard of Fiverr, it’s essentially a site where freelancers list their services. You can find almost anything on there! I’ve looked at a few listings and I plan on reaching out to one of the freelancers soon. I’m excited for what they’ll create!
As for my personal projects, I have a few videos planned as well as keeping up with blog posts. Recently I got some materials and took some shots for my first video, but you’ll have to keep an eye out for that once it comes out! I was FINALLY able to get a logo made. I’m not sure if I’m in love with it but I like it and others seem to like it too!
In other news, I’ve finally settled on which espresso machine to get to start recipe testing. To be honest I’ve never made an espresso based drink in my life, but I’m excited to learn something new! The main issue right now is that I don’t have too much funds to put towards the espresso machine. On top of that I would still need a grinder, the beans, the milk frother cup, and a mug to use for practicing latte art. I’ll be selling some stickers and promoting the cafe at an event this weekend so hopefully that will help cover it!!
I’m also scouting out locations. This is probably one of the most challenging parts since not every available spot is listed online. So unless I reach out and contact someone there’s no way of knowing if a space is fully built out or not. And since I’m not fully ready to commit to a spot I’m trying to avoid getting in contact with leasing agents.
Other than that the main struggle right now is trying to look into business loans and grants. Well, that on top of me trying to work my day job! Wish me luck cause I’ll need it!
